The Adult Programme provides a range of vocal and instrumental classes, whether you’re starting from scratch or reigniting your passion for singing or playing.
New for the 2014/15 Adult Programme - the Harmonize choir is the perfect introduction to music from around the world, discover jazz, pop and gospel music with Old Town Voices or join the Adult Rock Band and explore rock, pop and soul through the decades from 50s rock ‘n’ roll to modern pop hits.
Programme favourite, In the Groove, is for aspiring rock and pop singers - learn fun and funky arrangements of well known pop, rock and chart classics and even perform with visiting artists at Sage Gateshead throughout the year.
If you prefer folk music, then Folkworks Tuesday is the perfect place to start or to develop your vocal, instrumental, and percussive dance skills. All classes take place on Tuesday evening and create a welcoming community of folk musicians of all ability levels. There are a range of new folk classes for 2014/15 including the Folk Choir which features guest tuition from Eliza Carthy.
The Silver Programme provides a range of vocal and instrumental classes for people over 50 in a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or an experienced player it’s a brilliant way to meet great people and make great music.

There are also informal singing groups taking place throughout the region, as well as at Sage Gateshead, and with no experience necessary this is a good starting point if you’re not sure which singing style is for you.
For instrumentalists, why not join the Silver Skiffle Band  - a traditional skiffle band playing 20s-30s blues plus American and English folk songs, or learn basic mandolin, banjo and ukulele skills in roots/folk bandBeginner Bluegrass or even join a Mandolin Orchestra.
